Both sides have their sights set on making it to League One, but it’s Wrexham that are in the better position.

They are currently just outside the play-offs on goal difference, while their opponents are sat in midtable, four points behind Wrexham.

The hosts will be without Andy Cannon after he was sent off in Wrexham’s last league game.

Jacob Mendy left the field injured in that match, so will need to be assessed.

Elsewhere Ollie Palmer and Steven Fletcher will battle it out for a place in Phil Parkinson’s XI alongside Paul Mullin.

Matt Smith is likely to lead the line for Salford after scoring a double on his last appearance in League Two.

Wrexham sealed their place in the knockout stages of the EFL Trophy in midweek and Parkinson was pleased with the display.

He said: “It was an important game for us in terms of getting players some game-time. You can go through the whole team, everybody needed a game and I was really pleased with the application and the quality, not just on the ball but off the ball as well.

“It was a very professional performance led by the senior boys.

“It is great when you have got good professionals like that leading the performance levels for us.”
