England vs Italy tips, free bets and preview with talkSPORT BET

England take on Italy at Wembley on Tuesday night for the EURO 2024 Qualifiers as the two teams top Group C.

England vs Italy odds

England are the clear odds-on favourites to win on Tuesday night under the lights at just 4/7.

Italy aren’t completely ruled out from the bookies to win though as talkSPORT BET price the visitors up at 17/4 to win and 12/5 to gain a point.

That’s a huge price on the reigning European Champions though, who won the trophy here just over two years ago.

England vs Italy preview

England haven’t won consecutive games against Italy since 1949.

And because of that it won’t come as a surprise to see that Italy are unbeaten in their last five away matches against England.

A record that is also long-standing to a 2-0 loss in a World Cup qualifier in 1977.

England are strong in this competition though.

Winning their last 12 home European Championship qualifiers by a huge aggregate score of 47-4.

But Italy also have a strong record in European qualifiers as they haven’t lost any of their last 22 away from home.

These two sides can go blow for blow in terms of unbeaten statistics going into this match, as England have suffered just one defeat in their last 62 tournament qualifiers, which came against Czechia in 2019.

62 games with just one loss really exemplifies the opposition they face and how they approach every game professionally, especially under Gareth Southgate who still manages to grind out these wins and draws in qualifiers.

England vs Italy betting tips

Match result – Draw – 12/5

It seems there’s a trend on both sides on doing well recently, either on a run of their own like England or like Italy having a strong record against the Three Lions and never really losing twice in a row to them.

This sometimes amounts to just one result – a draw.

And given England’s price to win it’s certainly more tempting, given both sides are in commanding positions in the group, it’s difficult to envision any side wanting to slip up and allow a chance of not getting that qualification.

Italy failed to reach the 2022 World Cup in shocking circumstances considering the strength of their squad against North Macedonia in the semi-finals of the playoffs.

They won’t want a repeat of that and a point picked up against England away from home would still be a great result for them with just a couple of games left after this.
