Frank Warren offers joke theory for Anthony Joshua spending four days in pitch black room

Eddie Hearn is a ‘love him or hate him’ kind of character and it’s safe to say that his rival promoter Frank Warren is not a fan.

As such, Warren couldn’t resist taking a subtle dig at Hearn when asked by talkSPORT about what the next move might be for Anthony Joshua, who is promoted by Matchroom Boxing’s Hearn.

And Joshua thinks he can use it to his advantage if he fights Fury

“I don’t know what [Joshua’s] doing at the moment,” Warren said.

“The fight they were putting together with Deontay Wilder has fallen apart, because they were looking to do that in Saudi and the people who were going to put it are no longer interested in doing it and I know Wilder has been looking elsewhere.

“So, I don’t know what [Joshua’s] going to do, apparently he’s been locked up in a dark room for four days.

“That was the last thing I heard about AJ, he probably had to do that because of all the BS he’s been told by Eddie over the last few months that’s not happening.”

This is in reference to the fact that Joshua recently took part in a £2000 experience that saw him spend four days in complete isolation in the darkness.

Speaking to Men’s Health, he explained: “Life is all about experiences.

“I want to have more character and go through more experiences. I’m doing it for character.”

In terms of his fighting career, as Warren mentioned, Joshua was expected to fight Wilder next, but that fight has stalled.

And so, Hearn is exploring other options for AJ so he can get back in the ring before the end of the year, putting forward fighters such as Otto Wallin, Filip Hrgovic and Agit Kabayel.

With that being said, this does not mean the Wilder fight is dead, as Joshua has told BBC Sport that the Saudis still want to put on a mega-card with Fury vs Usyk and himself vs Wilder in April next year.
