Manchester United vs Manchester City: Man City to win (8/13)

There is no doubt that Manchester City have had the better of Manchester United in recent years.

Whereas the Red Devils are without a Premier League title since Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, City are targeting a sixth in seven seasons.

But in the derby at least, United have had some joy. In the last eight Premier League meetings between the local rivals, City have triumphed three times but been defeated on four occasions.

That should provide Erik ten Hag with a crumb of comfort ahead of this weekend’s clash, for there are few other sources of optimism at Old Trafford right now.

United may have won three matches on the bounce in all competitions, but none of those victories over Brentford, Sheffield United or Copenhagen was particularly convincing.

City are not quite at their free-flowing best either, but they are still a superior side to United in every department.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United: Arsenal to win to nil (8/11)

Arsenal are one of only two Premier League teams still unbeaten as the 10th round of fixtures approaches.

It is hard to see that undefeated sequence coming to an end this weekend, with last-placed Sheffield United the visitors to the Emirates Stadium.

The Blades have had very little to cheer in 2023/24, collecting just one point from the first 27 available following promotion.

United have conceded the most goals in the division and scored the second-fewest, so Arsenal should not find this assignment too taxing.

The Gunners can expect to dominate possession and territory on Saturday, and Mikel Arteta will fancy his team’s chances of keeping a clean sheet.

Arsenal have looked pretty solid so far this term and they should shut out Sheffield United here.

Chelsea vs Brentford: Both teams to score (4/5)

Chelsea appear to have turned a corner under Mauricio Pochettino. No one at Stamford Bridge will be getting ahead of themselves yet, but a run of four games without defeat has lifted the mood around the place.

Brentford are not to be taken lightly. Since promotion they have won both visits to the Bridge by comfortable margins.

The Bees breezed past Burnley last time out, winning 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium to climb into mid-table.

Thomas Frank’s team are clearly missing Ivan Toney, who is suspended until the middle of January for breaching betting regulations.

But Brentford are still creating chances: they sit fifth in the expected goals table, ahead of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City and this weekend’s opponents.

Go for both teams to score at 4/5 with bet365

Add the following two bets to make it a 5-fold acca.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Fulham: Over 2.5 goals (1/2)

Brighton suffered a 2-1 defeat by Manchester City in their last Premier League outing. In their ninth game of the campaign, it was the ninth time Brighton were involved in a match that featured three goals or more.

Little wonder, then, that this clash with Fulham is odds-on to contain more than 2.5 goals. That might not represent good value as an individual pick, but it would be a smart addition to your accumulator.

Fulham are not exactly free-scoring themselves. Marco Silva has switched between Carlos Vinicius and Raul Jimenez as he looks to find the best successor to the departed Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Only four teams have scored fewer goals than the Cottagers, but they should get chances against a Brighton backline that is yet to keep a clean sheet.

Choose over 2.5 goals at 1/2 with bet365

Aston Villa vs Luton Town: Aston Villa to score in both halves (5/6)

Aston Villa are flying high in their first full season under Unai Emery, fuelling hopes that they could challenge for Champions League qualification.

Emery celebrated his first year in charge at Villa Park this week and he will be keen to mark the occasion with a victory.

Luton showed their battling qualities by coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Nottingham Forest last time out.

But Rob Edwards’ side lack quality at this level and they will find it tough to contain a Villa team that has won 11 league games on the bounce in front of their own fans.

Villa have been electric in attack of late, with Newcastle the only team to have outscored them in the first nine matches.

With Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby ably supported by Douglas Luiz, John McGinn and Nicolo Zaniolo, Villa could score a few this weekend.
