Jurgen Klopp was furious when Toulouse fans drowned out his press conference with boisterous celebrations after he was made to hold it in a tent.

The Liverpool manager was giving his thoughts on Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat in the Europa League when fans began banging on the tent and chanting.

Klopp and journalists had to fight through the crowd to access the tent across the road from the stadium.

No supporters were inside but reporters couldn’t hear Klopp over the raucous din.

Klopp stopped part-way through the press conference and said: ‘Who had the idea to do the press conference here? That will be a really interesting question. Wow.’

He then proceeded to look around for 15 seconds before one of the journalists spoke up with the next question.

The frustrated look on Klopp’s face said it all after a difficult evening for his team, who fell to just their second defeat of the campaign.

A potential comeback was overthrown when VAR chalked off Jarell Quansah’s late equalising goal after an Alexis Mac Allister handball.

Aron Donnum had given the hosts a surprise lead after 36 minutes and by 58 Toulouse were two ahead courtesy of a Thijs Dallinga goal.

Klopp’s men showed fighting spirit and got one back via a Cristian Casseres Jr. own goal 73 minutes in, only for the French outfit to restore their two-goal advantage thanks to Frank Magri three minutes later.

Diogo Jota’s 89th-minute goal gave the Reds a ray of hope and they thought they had sealed a point with Quansah’s last-minute strike, but it was cruelly overturned.

Klopp did not agree with the decision to award handball – it was well before the goal and he questioned whether it had even touched his midfielder’s arm.

He said: ‘I only saw the video back now and for me it’s not a handball, but how can I decide that? The ball goes to the chest and then I don’t see a contact with the arm, to be honest.

‘Maybe they had a different picture than I had. It was pretty long ago before we scored the goal and I thought, ‘Where is the free-kick?’ I didn’t see it properly but I heard there could have been a penalty for us in another situation, I don’t know.
