Jurgen Klopp has already made feelings on Curtis Jones clear despite Arsenal link

Jurgen Klopp has made his feelings on Curtis Jones clear amid links to Arsenal, saying he ‘sets the level’ for Liverpool at times.

The English midfielder has spent recent seasons as one of the Premier League’s most talented young players, but remains a rotation option in Jurgen Klopp‘s side.

After recently declaring himself as an Arsenal fan, the Gunners have been credited with interest in the 22-year-old after starring in Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day

Finding the net in that win, Jones has now scored three goals in his last four games for the Reds, leading to some special praise from his manager.

Discussing his performance, Klopp said: “Special game. Special game from Curtis, to be honest: his high press, his counter-press.

“We all know how good a player Curtis is, he is technically incredibly skilled, but he finds more and more direction in his dribbling, he gets better out of situations and his pressing and counter-pressing is meanwhile… he sets the level actually, how it should look.

“Really happy with that. He keeps every player in the game.”

Jones made his Liverpool debut five years ago in an FA Cup third round clash with Wolves in 2019 when he was just 17 years of age.

Since then, he has made 116 appearances for the Reds, with 72 of those appearances coming in the starting line up.

While Arsenal may be keen to sign Jones, it’s clear that Klopp won’t be letting his homegrown hero go anytime soon as his influence on Liverpool’s team continues to grow.
