Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Burnley to appoint Vincent Kompany as their new head coach, according to BBC Sport’s Simon Stone.

The Bundesliga club will pay Championship-bound Burnley £10.2 million in compensation.

Meanwhile, Kompany has agreed in principle to a contract that will keep him at Bayern until 2027, Stone adds.

The Belgian coach leaves after two years at Burnley, a spell during which he oversaw the club’s promotion to the Premier League in 2023 and their immediate return to the second division this past season.

Assistants Floribert Ngalula and Bram Geers will join Kompany in Germany, while Craig Bellamy isn’t expected to be part of the 38-year-old’s coaching staff.

Kompany was one of a handful of candidates that Bayern were linked with after announcing Thomas Tuchel would leave at the end of the season. The club reportedly failed to sign its top targets and tried to convince Tuchel to stay before landing Kompany.
