When is the winter mid-season break in the Premier League this season? Fixture dates and time off confirmed

The 2023/24 Premier League season is racing towards the hectic festive period but teams do have a mid-season break just around the corner.

Last campaign was the most gruelling ever, with hundreds of domestic matches squeezed in around the 2022 World Cup.

The Premier League took a month-long break between mid-November and Boxing Day to factor in the Qatar tournament.

But despite there being no mid-season tournament to consider this year, new rules on added time means games are longer than ever.

When is the winter break this season?

The Premier League will have a mid-season break after the festive period.

Teams will play three games in nine days around Christmas before the FA Cup third round during the first weekend of January.

Gameweek 21 has then been split across two weeks so each team will have one weekend off.

Five games will be held from January 13 to 15 and the other five played the week after, January 20 to 22.

The Premier League will then return in full with midweek games on January 30 and 31 before another round of fixtures over the weekend of February 2 and 3.

The FA Cup fourth round will also be held during the weekend of January 27 and 28.
